Kurt Olsen Chair
Description
Vintage Kurt Olsen Chair
Model 230 Chair, Designed by Kurt Olsen for Slagelse Møbelvaerk, Denmark, in 1955. Constructed from solid oak, this chair embraces the organic minimalism, beautiful craftsmanship, and functional approach that defines mid-century Danish design.
The frame has been refinished, and the chair newly upholstered in a Pierre Frey textile, introducing a tailored green pattern that complements the warmth of the teak. The updated upholstery respects the chair’s original proportions while giving it a fresh, considered presence.
Olsen, known as a furniture architect, liked to find unconventional ways to connect the back and armrests with the legs. In this model’s case, the back legs support the backrest, while the paddle-shaped armrests are connected to the front legs.
Comfortable and well-balanced, it works beautifully as a standalone accent or as part of a layered seating arrangement.
